The Exped Downmat revolutionised cold weather camping. Exped developed a sleeping mat that is amazingly insulated, thick and comfortable for a fraction of the weight we used to carry. The thick cushion of air also provides comfort and smooths out uneven ground. Even after all these years other mat companies are still trying to come up with ways to compete with the warmth to weight ratio of the Exped Down Mat. 

As down compresses extremely well, DownMats pack smaller than other insulated pads and are easier to inflate. They have twice the R-value (insulation) of popular foam self inflating mats.
 
Two wide mouth, flat, oneway valves ensure fast inflation and simple deflation. Similar to a sleeping bag, baffles between the mats chambers eliminate cold spots and promote a stable and supportive air cushion.
